This little knitted kidney is the perfect way to commemorate a transplant, to thank a donor or donor family, to show appreciation to a favorite nephrologist or nurse, or just to spread a little joy.
My youngest son Teddy was born with Stage V Chronic Kidney Disease (kidney failure) and received a life-changing kidney transplant when he was 20 months old. I've made knitted kidneys (both life-size, as well as these tiny ones) for his doctors, nurses, his amazing donor, and other little kids getting transplants and THEIR donors.
The kidney is approx 1.25 inches wide and 2 inches tall. It comes complete with the renal artery and vein, and a ureter. :) The yarn is a wool/nylon blend, and the fiberfill is polyester.
I can add a year or initials (backstitched in blue or tan yarn) upon request.
The proceeds from the sale of the kidney ornaments will go towards Teddy's account at National Foundation for Transplants, a nonprofit organization that helps transplant recipients with their medical expenses.
